PPAR activation pathway and transcriptional regulation of target genes. After ligand binding, PPARs form heterodimers with RXR in the nucleus. The PPAR/RXR heterodimers interact with transcriptional coactivators (CoActs) and bind to sequence specific PPRE located in the target genes that control glucose and insulin homeostasis, lipid metabolism, inflammation, and cellular differentiation.
