Effects of PPAR- ligands in induction of apoptosis on human PC cell line. PC cell line (PC3) treated
with PPAR- ligands ((b); 20 M Troglitazone, (c); 20 M 15-d-PGJ2) showed significant chromatin
condensation, cellular shrinkage, small membrane-bound bodies (apoptotic bodies), and cytoplasmic condensation. These cellular changes were typically redundant characteristics of apoptosis. PC cells without PPAR- ligands maintained normal chromatin patterns and cell size (a). Typical photographs are presented.
