Fenofibrate enhanced Smad3 activation. Total mouse splenic T cells were induced to differentiate into Treg cells by use of 5 ng/mL TGF-β and 50 U/mL IL-2, and 20 μM fenofibrate or solute control. 24 and 48 hours later, the phosphorylation of Smad3 (a) and STAT5 (b) as well as the total protein level were examined by western blot analysis.
