PPAR Regulation of Systemic and Pulmonary Arterial Pressure
Call for Papers
Blood pressure refers to the pressure exerted on the vessel wall in the systemic or local circulation and is under delicate control of the neurological and endocrine systems. Dysregulation of blood pressure may lead to serious diseases such as hypertension and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Emerging evidence suggests that nuclear hormone receptors including peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) play important roles in the maintenance of blood pressure homeostasis in the systemic circulation and in the lung and are implicated in the pathogenesis and, potentially, the treatments of hypertension and PAH.
This special issue will focus on the biological and pathophysiological effects of PPAR and their modulators in relation to the blood pressure control, hypertension, and PAH and their therapies. Original research papers as well as review articles are invited. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- PPARs and vascular reactivity
- Regulation of cardiovascular rhythm by PPARs and their modulators
- PPARs and vascular remodeling related to hypertension and PAH
- Antihypertensive effects of PPAR modulators
- Crosstalk between PPARs and renin-angiotensin system (RAS)
- Crosstalk between PPARs and sympathetic nervous system
- PPAR regulation of electrolyte and water metabolism
- PPARs and vasoactive substances
- Genetic studies on hypertension and PAH related to PPARs
- PPARs and epigenetic regulations of hypertension- and PAH-related genes
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ppar/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ppar/spap/ according to the following timetable:
