The Malpighiaceae (Peixotoa tomentosa) has its flowers visited by (a) the pollinator bee (Centris (Ptilotopus), Apidae) and (b) also (like in Banisteriopsis laevifolia) by the small black thrips (Heterothrips peixotoa, Heterothripidae) that infest and destroy its stamens and stigma.
