Epigenetic Regulation of Apoptosis and Cell Cycle in Osteosarcoma

Schematic model of epigenetic events that regulate cell cycle progression in osteosarcoma. The cell cycle regulators Rb, p53, p16INK4A, p14ARF, and HIC1 have been found to be hypermethylated at the gene promoter in osteosarcoma (*). These alterations may contribute to dysregulation of cell cycle control (loss of the G1 checkpoint) and may promote tumor development.
