Osteosarcoma Phenotype Is Inhibited by 3,4-Methylenedioxy-β-nitrostyrene

Figure 2

MNS reduced colony formation in a dose-dependent manner in the osteosarcoma cell lines. Colonies were counted 24 hours after plating in collagen gel in the presence of MNS, an inactive analogue, or 1% DMSO as a vehicle control. Data are represented as means ± SE of three independent experiments, each with three wells per group. Average colony formation per well for vehicle control groups were 141 for TE85 cells, 133 for MNNG cells, 187 for 143B cells, 152 for SAOS-2 cells, and 115 for LM7 cells. Asterisks denote compared with the vehicle control group. Double asterisks indicate all cell lines were at 2.5, 5, and 10 μM MNS (10 μM MNS: TE85 ( ), MNNG ( ), 143B ( ), SAOS-2 ( ), LM7 ( ); 5 μM MNS: TE85 ( ), MNNG ( ), 143B ( ), SAOS-2 ( ), LM7 ( ); 2.5 μM MNS: TE85 ( ), MNNG ( ), 143B ( ), SAOS-2 ( ), LM7 ( ); 1 μM MNS: TE85 ( ), SAOS-2 ( ), LM7 ( 0).
