Tissue location of salivary gland stem/progenitor cells. ID cells (dark grey) and c-kit-positive excretory duct cells (light grey) are parenchymal cells that rest on the basement membrane (BM). Bone-marrow-derived cells are present in the blood vessel, and MSC-like cells (black) in the interstitium, but they are not in contact with the BM.
