Young at Heart: Pioneering Approaches to Model Nonischaemic Cardiomyopathy with Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells

Figure 1

Modelling cardiac diseases with iPSC-CMs. Numerous stakeholders are involved in modelling cardiac diseases using iPSC-CMs: patients, patients’ family members, or anonymous biobank donors who provide the founder cells, for example, skin fibroblasts or PBMCs, and also clinicians, biomedical researchers, and members of industry who participate in the collection of samples, the generation of iPSCs followed by differentiation into iPSC-CMs, and modelling underlying cardiac pathology and using state-of-the-art approaches, for example, bioengineered stimulating microdevice [25] and drug screening, to advance the impact of iPSC-CMs.
