Fluorescent microscopy for keratin 3/12 in HLE cells cultured on BMSF films in the presence of SHEM (a, b) or DMEM (c, d). Keratin 3/12-IR was evident in a few sparsely scattered HLE cells in cultures grown in SHEM for 7 d (a). After 14 d, reactivity for keratin 3/12 was evident in all cultures regardless of the media used (b, d). No significant evidence of IR for keratin 3/12 was detected in samples cultured with DMEM for 7 d (c) or where primary antibody was omitted ((c), insert). Bar = 30 µM.
