MSCs promote angiogenesis by (1) secreting proangiogenic bioactive factors; (2) functioning as pericytes to support EC proliferation and maturation; (3) recruiting EPCs and other progenitor cells into neoblood vessels; (4) regulating the immune response of the microenvironment by modulating recruitment of immune cells.
