Fold change of cytokine secretion by MSCs with HA treatment. Conditions were all cultured in either control media or HA media for three days after the media change. Conditions (-axis) were grown in flasks (B–E) HA media, ranging from 0.25 to 2 mg/mL of HA. These were all compared back to the control condition (cells grown control media, flask (A)). Average fold change in fluorescence () ± upper and lower confidence intervals at 95% (-axis). Cytokines with a fold change less than one indicate a decrease with HA media treatment; a fold change greater than one indicates an increase in the cytokine with HA treatment ( with a fold change clear of the axis at 1 reported as significant). Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), fibroblast growth factor-basic (FGF-β), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).
