<table>Control of PAI-1 synthesis and release in adipose tissue. It is underlined the role of thrombospondin-1 (TSP1), an adipokine which activates transforming growth factor-<i>β</i> (TGF-<i>β</i>), and consequently PAI-1 synthesis and release in adipose tissue. TGF-<i>β</i> is also activated by high glucose and angiotensin II (Ang II). The synthesis of PAI-1, which exerts prothrombotic and proatherogenic actions, is increased also by TNF-<i>α</i> and insulin.</table>
