Advances in Pharmaceutical Analysis

Call for Papers

Pharmaceutical analysis is a technology science on the study and development of drug quality control as well as an important compulsory course in teaching plan of pharmacy. Pharmaceutical analysis is based on organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and other relative courses. It chiefly investigates the quality control methods of synthetic drug, natural product, and their preparations with definite chemical structure as well as typical Chinese drugs preparation, biochemical drugs, and their preparations by chemical, physicochemical, or biochemical methods and techniques. It provides strict and specified quality control standard with scientific analytical methods and valid modern analytical techniques in the overall quality control process concerning development, production, supply, and clinical application of drug as well as research of new drugs in order to guarantee the safety, rationality, efficacy, and controllability of medication.

Importance of drug analysis: With increasing drug-abusing population day by day, it is very much necessary to identify the drug abusers and make them stay away from harmful drugs of abuse. Drug testing helps in detecting the drug abusers by tracing the elevated levels of illicit drugs and their metabolites in the specimen provided. There are many types of drug testing methods which use samples like urine, blood, hair, saliva, or sweat for detecting the drug concentration. Of them, urine tests are commonly used for detecting the drug abusers as they are inexpensive, easy to handle, provide quick results, and less intrusive (compared to blood tests). Urine drug testing is generally used to evaluate the recent illicit drug abuse. It is a process of chemical analysis designed to test the suspect using urine sample. With the scientific advancement in drug testing methods, there is a rapid development in commercial urine drug testing kits which are often reliable and inexpensive (generally cost around $2 to $10).

Drug testing helps to identify the drug abusers at home, schools, and workplaces. Therefore, it is very necessary for the concerned people to perform urine drug testing, which is considered as an easy, convenient, and reliable testing method.

We invite authors to submit original research articles that are related to new advances in drug analysis by spectroscopy methods. We are interested in articles that explore the following aspects using all kinds of spectroscopic techniques:

  • Chemometrics in drug analysis using spectroscopy data
  • New spectroscopy methods
  • Analytical spectroscopic strategies for drug profiling
  • Forensic and antidoping analysis by spectroscopy techniques
  • Analysis of biopharmaceuticals by spectroscopy

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/spectroscopy/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/spectroscopy/apa/ according to the following timetable:
