ASCO classification of stroke etiologies. The ASCO classification for “A” (atherothrombosis), “S” (small vessel disease), and “C” (cardioembolic). The “O” (other causes) group was omitted because only 4 patients received a grade other than “0.” As all patients had Duplex/Doppler imaging and carotid stenosis, no patient had “A0” or “A9,” so these groups were omitted. The figure visualizes competing/coexisting etiologies.
