Stroke in the Young in 2013
Call for Papers
Stroke in young adults is challenging. Investigation and treatment are often different in young stroke patients compared with older stroke patients because of differences in etiology, risk factors, and prognosis. Special considerations are needed among patients in the prime of life because of choice of education and vocation.
The purpose of this special issue is to focus on features of stroke in young adults with special relevance to clinical practice. We welcome original articles and reviews on epidemiology, etiology, treatment, prognosis, and other important aspects of stroke among young adults. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Epidemiology
- Risk factors
- Etiology
- Patent foramen ovale
- Cervical artery dissection
- Migraine and cerebral infarction
- Pregnancy and puerperium
- Oral contraceptives and stroke
- Fabry's disease
- Thrombophilic disorders
- Vasculitis

- Cognitive function after stroke
