Advanced Integral Type Reactors: Passive Safety Design and Experiment

Call for Papers

Integral type reactor, containing its coolant system components within a reactor vessel, remains a promising engineering solution for broad application of nuclear energy. Due to the special arrangement of the primary system, the possibility of a large break loss of coolant accident (LBLOCA) is inherently eliminated in principle. This considerably reduces the spectrum of possible accident scenarios that might lead to core damage. Knowledge, understanding, and innovation of advanced passive safety improving features will aid better economic performance and improve its ability to compete in the future nuclear energy applications.

We invite investigators to contribute original research and review articles that will stimulate the continuing development of integral type reactor, the better understanding of the passive safety concept, and the evaluation of reliability, safety, security, and economy of advanced integral type reactors. We are particularly interested in articles with novel concepts and experimental demonstrations on the specific topic. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Recent developments and experiments for integral type reactor
  • Advances in passive safety
  • Passive system reliability assessment methods
  • Latest developments and experiments in integral type reactors thermal hydraulics
  • Natural circulation instabilities and other transient phenomena
  • Recent advances in reactor physics
  • Latest technologies applied in advanced integral type reactors
  • Innovative design of residual heat removal in integral type reactor
  • Latest development in safety analysis of integral type reactor
  • New simulation models and methodologies to investigate and understand the influence of passive safety on the behavior of integral type reactors
