Plasmalogens Inhibit APP Processing by Directly Affecting γ-Secretase Activity in Alzheimer’s Disease
Table 1
List of all human brains () used for analysis. Human brain samples were kindly provided from BrainNet (Munich). In total, we used 58 human brain samples from 21 control and 37 AD patients. Brains were obtained from patients with an age at death between 61 and 88 years, and no significant differences in age and gender were observed between control (mean 75 years) and AD patients (mean 78 years) group. Abbreviations used are AD = Alzheimer’s disease; F = female; M = male; CERAD = the consortium to establish a registry for AD, standardizing procedures for the evaluation and diagnosis if patients with AD. A, B, C, 0 as described in http://cerad.mc.duke.edu/; Braak and Braak = Braak and Braak stage of AD; H. Braak and E. Braak stages [36]; FR = frontal cortex; n.d. = not determined.
