Organization of promoter-proximal regions. DNA sequence was derived from V. parahaemolyticus RIMD 2210633 [7]. Shown within the hcp1 upstream region (a) were translation and transcription starts, SD sequences, and −10/−12 and −35/−24 core promoter elements. The T6SS1 gene cluster forms 7 putative operons, and the upstream regions of the first genes of these operons were aligned for predicting the −10 and −24 elements (b).
