The velocity is positive for an ampullopetal flow in the HC duct and in the HC ampulla, for an ampullopetal flow in the AC and PC ducts, and for an utriculofugal flow in the utricle. Meanwhile, the deflection to the utricle side is positive for the HC cupula and to the canal side for the AC and PC cupulae.
