High levels of BMP-2 are associated with a low degree of OA related radiological changes (Kellgren Lawrence Score). Results of the Spearman correlation are indicated for absolute BMP-2 levels and concentrations in relation to the total protein content (TPC) on the right side. Statistical significance (Kruskal-Wallis H-Test) describes results comparing mild (KLS 0–2) and severe OA (KLS ). A smoothing spline regression for plane curves was chosen in order to illustrate the S-shaped character of the curve; values are shown with ±SEM.
