Wireless Networks and Mobile Communications for Internet of Things

Description

Internet of Things (IoT) has been emerging as a milestone of the evolution of Internet. In the IoT paradigm, a large number of physical objects with sensing and communication capabilities will be connected to Internet by the technologies such as wireless sensor networks, radio frequency identification (RFID), Wi-Fi, and 4G-LTE. Compared with the conventional network, IoT covers a wider range of areas, including entity tracking, object control, and privacy protection. The communication paradigms of IoT also go beyond the traditional mobile networks and need to connect different embedded devices into various scenarios. In the past few years, significant research efforts have been made on IoT. However, there are still many issues to be solved, including many challenges as the communication quality, network stability, and reliability. The mobile communication problem for IoT should deserve our special attention and penetrating research.

The scope of this special issue is to present and highlight the latest novel technologies, implementations, and applications in wireless networks and mobile communications for IoT.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The design of the communication protocol for IoT
  • Topology control and optimisation in IoT networks
  • Data management in IoT systems
  • Networking systems and network architecture
  • Network coding and its applications for IoT
  • Wireless communication technology for IoT
  • Recovery of coverage holes for IoT
  • IoT routing algorithms
  • Effective collection of data in IoT
  • Effective energy management in IoT
  • MAC/Network layer cooperative communications for IoT
  • Security, privacy, reputation, and trust in IoT
  • Cognitive radio techniques for IoT
  • Testing and simulation techniques for IoT
  • Interconnection between IP and IoT networks
  • Message dissemination for safety-related applications
  • Information-centric networking for IoT
  • Intelligent processing for future IoT
  • Infrastructure of information network for IoT
