Multidimensional Signal Processing and Applications
Description
The purpose of this special issue on multidimensional signal processing and applications is to promote and guide the advancement of the field of image, video, and multidimensional signal processing.
Multidimensional signal processing methods are of major interest since the recent development of multicomponent sensors, especially in imagery (color or hyperspectral imagery, medical imagery, video, array processing, telecommunications, etc.) and seismic fields (antenna of sensors recording waves with polarization properties).
In order to keep the multidimensional data as whole entity, new signal processing methods have been proposed, such as lower rank tensor approximation and multiway filtering. Hence, instead of adapting the data to the classical techniques (by rearrangement or splitting), these recent methods propose to adapt their processing to the signal structure of the multicomponent data. The goal of this special issue is to bring together theoretical and experimental results that reflect the recent advances in multidimensional signal processing as well as to open new avenues for research in the field. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
- Multidimensional signal processing algorithms
- Compressed sensing paradigm
- Representation of spatiotemporal/frequency features using multidimensional data
- Acquisition and reconstruction of real-world multidimensional data
- Statistical multidimensional signal processing
- Multilinear approaches for multidimensional signal processing
- Multidimensional data processing (enhancement, segmentation, detection, classification, unmixing, localization, etc.)
- Applications of multidimensional signal processing (hyperspectral imagery, seismic, array processing, medical imagery, and other technical fields where multidimensional signals are measured, etc.)
- Acoustics and/or audio
