Determination of Environmental Pollutants

Description

Over the last decades, there has been increasing global concern about the sources, sinks, distributions, fates, and effects of environmental pollutants. The ubiquitous presence in the environment and the adverse effects on environment and human health of these pollutants make it necessary to develop analytical methods to identify them and their degradation products, as well as to quantify them at low concentration levels.

We invite investigators to contribute original research papers as well as review papers that will represent a step forward in environmental sciences covering the interdisciplinary of the field.

We are particularly interested in papers describing the analytical methods for (i) monitoring and identifying pollutants and their degradation/metabolic products at the low concentration levels in air, water, sediments, or biota; (ii) studying the toxicology effects of these pollutants in biota and human health. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of analytical methods that include sample preparation followed by chromatographic separation coupled to sensitive and selective detectors
  • Quantification of different type of pollutants in environment, including pesticides, drugs, personal care products, disinfection by products, nitrosamines, among others
  • Identification of new emerging pollutants and their degradation products
  • Analysis of environmental matrices such as air, water, soils, biota, and waste
  • Transport and fate of the pollutants in the environment
