Wetland Degradation and Ecological Restoration

Description

Wetlands are functioned as the “kidneys” of the earth and play important roles in maintaining ecological service functions. Wetlands are suffering from serious degradation or loss as affected by wetland pollution, wetland reclamation, civilization and land use changes, and so forth. Wetland degradation has potential influences on human health, biodiversity, regional climate, and regional ecological security. Understanding wetland degradation processes can contribute to better effective wetland restoration.

We invited authors to submit original research and review articles that focus on wetland degradation and ecological restoration. We are interested in articles that emphasize the effects of human activities on wetland ecosystems, the relationships between soil, water, and plant in wetlands, and wetland restoration issues and applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Biogeochemical processes of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorous in wetlands
  • Wetland ecohydrological process and ecological water requirement
  • Ecological risk assessment of wetland ecosystems
  • Heavy metal pollution in wetland soils
  • Wetland degradation processes and integrative assessment
  • Wetland habit simulation and biodiversity conservation
  • Wetland conservation and management
  • Wetland ecological service and wetland value assessment
  • Wetland landscape changes and climate change
  • Wetland ecological network establishment and simulation
  • Wetland restoration techniques and approaches

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/tswj/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/tswj/ecology/wder/ according to the following timetable:
