Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Genetics, Mechanisms, and Novel Therapies
Call for Papers
Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of intestine which mainly includes ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). An array of etiopathogenic factors contributes to the development of this disease. Genetic modulation, infective agents, immunological disturbance, smoking, and microorganisms have been implicated to orchestrate mucosal inflammation, hemorrhage, and development of strictures in the colon. Recent advances in biology and medicine have introduced new technologies to study the genetics of IBD and the mechanisms underlying their pathology. Current medical treatment for IBD mainly consists of pharmacological intervention. Rather than achieving a cure, the aim of currently available treatments is to improve quality of life by inducing remission, preventing recurrence, and controlling the symptoms. The key to IBD control is an immunosuppression.
This journal is dedicated to publish high-quality research papers providing meaningful insights into the substantial management content both in Indian as well as global context. Authors are invited to submit their original research findings and reviews articles. Potential topics include, but not limited to:
- IBD disease mechanism using model systems
- Elucidating the role of host factors in the development of IBD
- Genetics of IBD
- Development of immunotherapeutic strategies to treat IBD
- Role of microbiota in the development of IBD
- Probiotics and prebiotics in the treatment of IDB. Fact and hypothesis
