Institutional Memberships

Hindawi publishes more than 100 Open Access journals covering a wide range of areas in science, technology, and medicine. When publishing in any Hindawi journals, authors retain the copyright of their articles, which are freely distributed under the “Creative Common Attribution License,” permitting the unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the article in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. In order to cover the costs of the publishing operation, Hindawi journals require “Article Processing Charges” for all accepted manuscripts.

The full list of Hindawi journals, along with their corresponding Article Processing Charges, is available here. There are no additional fees or taxes for any authors worldwide. These charges apply only to peer reviewed contributions (e.g., research articles, review articles, clinical studies) while other contributions (e.g., editorials, errata) are published free of charge.

Hindawi offers “Institutional Memberships” to organizations that would like to encourage and enable their authors to publish their research in an Open Access journal. “Hindawi Institutional Memberships” program is an advance payment system, whereby the organization pays upfront an amount of money of their choice, which is kept in account to cover the publication charges of authors from their institute. Upon acceptance of an article that has been submitted by an author from a Member Institute, an automatic deduction is made from the institution’s account. The amount that is deducted will be the “Article Processing Charge” of the journal in which the article is accepted, minus an “Institutional Member” discount of 10%.

By joining this Institutional Membership program, organizations can enable their authors to publish in Hindawi Open Access journals without having to pay “Article Processing Charges” from their individual research budget, and at the same time enjoy a 10% discount for all of their organization’s Open Access publications. A quarterly report is provided to member organizations so they may keep track of the use of their balance with Hindawi.
