Open Access Memberships
Hindawi is one of the leading Open Access publishers with 408 peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of academic disciplines. When publishing in any Hindawi journal, authors retain the copyright of their article, which is freely distributed under the Creative Common Attribution License, permitting the unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of the article in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. In order to cover the costs of publication, Hindawi journals require Article Processing Charges for all accepted manuscripts.
Hindawi journals are published on the following platforms:

- ISRN: 114 fast-track journals covering a wide range of academic disciplines
- CRIM: 31 journals devoted to the publication of Case Reports in all areas of medicine
- CPIS: 12 journals devoted to the publication of Conference Papers in several areas of science
- Datasets International: 17 journals devoted to the publication of Dataset Papers and their underlying datasets in several areas of science
- The Scientific World Journal: A wide scope journal covering all areas of science, technology, and medicine
- Scientifica: A wide scope journal covering all areas of the life sciences
The Article Processing Charges of Hindawi journals are listed on each of the above platforms (e.g., here). There are no additional fees or taxes for any authors worldwide. These charges apply only to peer reviewed contributions (e.g., research articles, review articles, clinical studies) while other contributions (e.g., editorials, errata) are published free of charge.
Hindawi offers “Personal Open Access Memberships” to individual researchers who would like to publish in Hindawi Open Access journals without having to administer and pay the Article Processing Charges for their individual articles. The cost of a one year Personal Open Access Membership is $3,000. The membership covers the cost of the Article Processing Charges of all manuscripts that are submitted to any Hindawi journal where one of the authors (not necessarily the submitting author) has an active Personal Open Access Membership on the date of submission of the manuscript (assuming that the manuscript is accepted for publication after the peer-review process).
Hindawi also offers “Institutional Open Access Memberships” to organizations that would like to encourage and enable their authors to publish their research in an Open Access journal. The Institutional Open Access Membership is based on a flat rate payment that covers all accepted articles that have one or more authors from the member institute. The cost of the membership depends on the research output level of the institute and the historical publishing pattern in Hindawi journals. Hindawi will provide a quotation upon request to any interested institute.
By having this Institutional Open Access Membership, organizations can enable their authors to publish in Hindawi Open Access journals without having to administer and pay the Article Processing Charges from their individual research budget. The flat rate system enables the member institute to know their cost for the next 12 months regardless of the number of articles that may be submitted or accepted for publication in any Hindawi journal. Hindawi will provide a new quotation for membership renewal at about three months prior to the expiration of the current membership. Membership periods may be synchronized with the calendar or fiscal year at the member institute by prorating its cost for a fraction of a year, if so desired by the member institute. Hindawi's web sites contains institutional web pages listing all articles in Hindawi journals that originated at different institutions, which can be used both as a showcase of the institute's research published in Hindawi journals and as a report for librarians and university administrators to assess the level of involvement of their faculty in Hindawi journals.
