Francois Gaillard was born in 1956 and joined the CNRS in 1983 to work on surface modification and degradation. After having passed his second thesis (Doctorat d‘Etat) in 1987, he joined, for two years, the Group USINOR-SACILOR, French steelmaker, to develop studies on the polymer-metal interface and its characterization by vibration spectroscopy. He was appointed “Directeur de Recherche au CNRS” in 2004, and he is currently the Head of the Team “surfaces and interfaces“ of IRCELYON. His research activities include the electrochemical promotion of catalysis (EPOC), the characterization of catalyst surfaces (by TPD, ITPD, XPS, FTIR, AES), and the study of adsorption/desorption phenomena by original thermoprogrammed methods (ITPD). His scientific production includes approximately 90 publications (h-index= 19) in reviewed journals as well as about one hundred communications.
