Mahmood Khan

The Ohio State University, USA

Mahmood Khan works as an Assistant Professor of internal medicine at the Division of Cardiology in Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute at The Ohio State University, Columbs, Ohio, USA. He received both an M.Pharm. degree and a Ph.D. degree. His current research focus is on stem cells for treatment of the damaged heart. The objective of his new therapeutic approach is to recover functionality lost in the damaged heart, thereby preventing remodeling that would lead to eventual heart failure. This technique appears to be very promising, but has not yet proven to be entirely effective when used clinically to treat heart attack patients. Khan is conducting some truly ground breaking research to discover the mechanisms and conditions necessary to ensure improved clinical outcomes when treating heart attack patients using stem cells. Khan has also developed new strategy to improve the survival of transplanted stem cells in the infarct heart by using hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
