Paul W. Sylvester is the Pfizer, Inc. B. J. Robinson endowed Professor of pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy, University of Louisiana at Monroe, Monroe, LA, USA. Dr. Sylvester received his B.S. degree in biology from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, USA, and his Ph.D. degree in physiology from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA. Moreover, Dr. Sylvester completed his postdoctoral training in experimental therapeutics at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, USA. During his career, his research has been funded by grants from the National Cancer Institute at NIH, the American Cancer Society, the American Institute for Cancer Research, and the Louisiana Cancer Foundation, among others. Furthermore, he has authored over 125 peer-reviewed research publications and 16 book chapters, and his research group and he have given numerous presentations at national and international scientific meetings. In addition, Professor Sylvester has served as a Reviewer for numerous research journals and grant review study sections. He has been a Member of the American Association for Cancer Research since 1986, and his research interests include examining the relationship of nutrition and cancer, with particular emphasis on understanding the intracellular mechanisms mediating the anticancer effects of tocotrienols.
