Paolo P. Limone

Paolo P. Limone has a degree in medicine at the University of Turin, Italy, in 1977, and received the University of Turin specializations in internal medicine in 1983 and in endocrinology in 1986. From 1980 to 2004, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Turin. From July 19, 2004 Dr. Limone was appointed the Director of the Complex Structure of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at Ospedale Mauriziano Umberto I di Torino, also assuming the role of Director of the Center for Thyroid Diseases at the same hospital. Dr. Limone has done research in the field of endocrinology, metabolism, and cardiovascular diseases. His research interests include diabetes mellitus and its cardiovascular complications. In recent years, Dr. Limone has conducted research in the field of thyroid disease, in particular relating to cancer, the use of new ultrasound techniques in the diagnosis of thyroid nodes, and application of alternative treatments using laser and radiofrequency ablation for nodular thyroid disease. Finally, studies are carried out on adrenal disease, hypertension on the endocrine, and pituitary disease. The research was funded by various grants of the CNR, MIUR, and the Compagnia di San Paolo.
