Frédéric Frézard got his Ph.D. degree in biophysics in 1993 from Université Paris 6, France. He did four postdocs at the University of Florida, USA (1990-1991), Université de Nice, France (1991–1993), Fundação Ezequiel Dias, Brazil (1994–1997), and Virginia Commonwealth University, USA (2007). Professor Frézard has been working as an Associate Professor since 1997 at Departamento de Fisiologia e Biofísica, Instituto de Ciências Biológicas, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. He was the Head of the Postgraduate Program in physiology and pharmacology at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, from 2009 to 2011. Currently, he is the Subcoordinator of the nanobiotechnology network in Minas Gerais (Brazil) and Main Researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology in nanobiopharmaceutics. He is the author of about 80 research papers and 7 issued international patents. Professor Frézard’s main areas of expertise include drug carrier and delivery systems, nanobiotechnology, multidrug resistance transporters, pharmacokinetics, chemistry and pharmacology of antimony-based drugs, and therapeutics of leishmaniasis.
