Dwaipayan Chakrabarti

Dwaipayan Chakrabarti is a Birmingham Fellow, appointed at Lecturer level, at the University of Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 2006, and then moved for a postdoctoral research to the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK, where he held a Marie Curie Incoming International Fellowship (2006–2008) and subsequently an Earnest Oppenheimer Early Career Research Fellowship (2008–2011). He spent an academic year (2011-2012) as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He also held a Research Fellowship (2009–2011) at Clare Hall, Cambridge, where he is now a life member. His research undertakes computational approaches to study structure, thermodynamics, and dynamics of condensed matter systems, especially soft matter. The focus of his current research is on exploring and exploiting self-assembly phenomena for the rational design of functional materials.
