Hideo Nakajima achieved the B.A. and the Ph.D. degrees from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1971 and 1977, respectively. From 1977 to 1980, Nakajima served as a Research Associate in Institute for Materials research, Tohoku University; from 1989 to 1992, he worked as an Associate Professor, Tohoku University; from 1992 to 1996, Nakajima served as a Professor in Iwate University. Since 1996, Nakajima has been working as a Professor in Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University, and since 2009, he has been serving as a Director in Renovation Center of Instruments for Scientific Education and Technology, Osaka University. Nakajima's major research interests include the fabrication and properties of macroporous metals and nanoporous materials, the application of porous metals, and the diffusion in metals, intermetallic compounds, and quasicrystals.
