Massimo Conese obtained the M.D. degree from the University of Bari, Italy (110/110), 1987 ; Professor Conese completed his Specialization in Oncology, University of Bari, Italy (50/50), 1990; He obtained his Ph.D. degree in cellular and molecular biology and pathology, University Medical School, Naples, Italy, 1995, Professor Conese's current position (since 2005) is an Associate Professor in General Pathology, Immunology and Immunopathology University of Foggia, Foggia, Italy. His areas of expertise are (1) pathophysiology of cystic fibrosis lung disease: (i) inflammatory response in airway epithelial cells, (ii) host-pathogen interaction, and (iii) neutrophil activation and apoptosis and (2) gene and cell therapy of cystic fibrosis lung disease: (i) non viral and viral gene delivery agents, (ii) plasmid delivery to the lung, (iii) RNA interference, and (iv) hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells and their homing to the lung.
