Manuel Fuentes Conde

University of Jaén, Spain

Manuel Fuentes Conde (Madrid, 1972) received his Doctorate degree in 2009 (photovoltaic solar energy) at University of Jaén, Jaén, Spain. After working as Designer in automobile industry during two years (1998–2000), he worked as Lecturer at University of Jaén, where he got his accreditation as Tenured Associate Professor in 2012. Nowadays he is an Associate Professor in Electronics and Automation Engineering Department at University of Jaén. His research lines include photovoltaic systems (assessment, monitoring, and quality control), hybrid photovoltaic systems (SAPV and photochemical), and, finally, low-cost monitoring and management design. His first research line was focused on photovoltaic systems, specifically on grid connected photovoltaic systems (GCPVS), developing measurement devices for PV modules, and PV systems quality control. After his postdoctoral stay in ANU (Canberra, Australia, 6 months) and Tianjin University (Tianjin, China, 4 months), he opened a new research line focused on water purification thanks to hybrid photovoltaic-photocatalytic systems and hybrid autonomous systems (renewable energies-fuel) based on low-cost design for its monitoring and management. Now he is working with IMDEA Water Institute (Madrid, Spain) to develop new prototypes and working in several cooperation projects in developing countries. He has participated in 30 research projects, contracts, and agreements, being the Leader and Principal Researcher in some of them. The research results include 19 papers in international journals (JRC), 11 papers in national journals, more than 30 publications in international conferences, 4 invited talks, and 1 patent. He is Reviewer of 7 journals gathered in the ISI Science JCR and Supervisor of one doctoral thesis and more than 30 honor student projects of technical and M.S. degrees.
