Morten Brons was born in Copenhagen in 1957. He received his M.S. degree (1984) and his Ph.D. degree (1987) in applied mathematics from the Technical University of Denmark, Kongens Lyngby, Denmark. He has held various positions at the Department of Mathematics and Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark, being a Full Professor since 2002. His research is within applied dynamical systems, with particular focus on fluid mechanics. His research topics include vortex dynamics, vortex breakdown, flow structure identification, model reduction, and stability of turbomachinery. He has also worked with nonlinear mechanical vibrations and applications of singular perturbation theory to chemical and biological systems. He is a Member of the Scientific Council of Danish Center for Applied Mathematics and a Founding Member of the Center for Fluid Dynamics at the Technical University of Denmark. From 1996 to 2001, he was a Member of the Board of the European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry.
