Valiya Mannathal Hamza

Valiya Mannathal Hamza received his Ph.D. degree in geophysics, in 1973, from the University of Western Ontario, London, ON, Canada. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil, as a Research Coordinator at the Institute of Technology Research (IPT), São Paulo, SP, Brazil, as a Secretary of the International Heat Flow Commission (IHFC), and as a Member of the Executive Committee of IASPEI. Currently, he is Emeritus Professor at the National Observatory, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, with active participation in postgraduate courses in geophysics. He has over one hundred publications in national and international journals. His main research interests include geothermics, geothermal energy, tectonics, geodynamics, climate changes, environmental geophysics, seismology, physical properties of geological materials, and education.
