Manuela Pardini

Manuela Pardini works as a Researcher at Istituto Superiore di Sanità (National Health Institute), Rome, Italy. Pardini received her Biology degree in 1995 from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, where she also obtained postgraduate specialty on microbiology and virology and a Ph.D. degree in surgery, biotechnologies, and immunology of transplantations. Her main areas of expertise include microbiology and immunology of mycobacteria. Her current research interests include the physiology of M. tuberculosis, under hypoxic conditions, and interaction of such bacteria with the host immune system (macrophages and dendritic cells), in addition to the epidemiology of drug resistance, culture, drug susceptibility testing, and quality control of anti-TB drug resistance surveillance at national and international level.
