Timur E. Gureyev obtained a Ph.D. degree in mathematical physics from Leningrad State University, St Petersburg, USSR, in 1988. From 1989 to 1991, he worked in the Institute for Microelectronics Technology in Chernogolovka, USSR. He joined the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) in Melbourne, VIC, Australia, in 1993. Between 1993 and 1995, he also served as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Parkville, VIC, Australia. Dr. Gureyev currently works as a Senior Principal Research Scientist in CSIRO and an Adjunct Professor at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia. His areas of expertise include theoretical analysis and solution of inverse problems in optical physics, development of new methods and algorithms for extraction of quantitative information from conventional and phase-contrast X-ray images and computed tomography data, development of methods and algorithms for 4D EEG imaging and its applications, and advanced scientific software development. Gureyev has coauthored more than 90 scientific papers in refereed journals, including 2 papers in Nature, 4 papers in Physical Review Letters, and 1 paper in Physics Today. His papers have been cited more than 3,600 times in scientific publications according to the ISI's Science Citation Index (h-index = 26).
