Massimiliano F. Peana

Massimiliano F. Peana, in 2001, received the Chemistry degree at the University of Sassari, Sassari, Italy. In 2002, he was a Visitor Research Fellow in the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Wroclaw (Poland). From 2002 to 2005, he received his Ph.D. degree in chemical sciences. From 2003 to 2005 he has been a Visiting Researcher at CERM, Centro di Risonanze Magnetiche, University of Florence. In 2006, he received a research fellowship at CERM. From 2007 to 2016, he received research fellowships at the University of Sassari. Research interests include metal interactions with natural peptides and proteins, molecular mechanisms of metal-related toxicity and carcinogenesis, role of metal ions in biochemistry and chemistry of metal-based drugs, and metal ions in neurodegeneration. Methods include peptide synthesis, potentiometric measurements, spectroscopic measurements: UV-Vis, NMR, EPR, CD, MS, and XRF, and computational chemistry in peptide and protein structure calculations.
