Victor Parsonnet

Victor Parsonnet studied at Cornell University, Ithaca, Ny, USA from 1941 till 1943, and then he obtained his M.D. degree from New York University College of Medicine in 1947. Dr. Parsonnet was a surgery interne at Boston Beth Israel Hospital, Ma, USA from 1947 till 1948 and a resident in pathology at Bellevue Hospital, Ny (1948-1949) and at Bellevue Hospital, Ny from 1950 till 1952 and in surgery at Newark Beth Israel Hospital, Nj (1954-1955). Moreover, he received fellowships in vascular surgery at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ny with Dr. William Blakemore from 1959 till 1962 and in cardiovascular surgery at Baylor University College of Medicine, Houston, Tx with Drs. Michael Debakey and Denton Cooley in 1962. Dr. Parsonnet served at the United States Navy Reserve (U.S.N.R.) from 1943 till 1946 and at United States Air Force Medical Crops (U.S.A.F.) from 1952 till 1954. He also occupied various positions at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, Nj such as the Director of Surgery (1960–1994), Medical Director of Pacemaker Center ( from 1968 till present), and Director of Surgical Research ( from 1994 till present) as well as the Chairman of IRB Committee. Furthermore, Dr. Parsonnet has published 5 books and 86 book chapters.
