Gilbert A. Blaise
Gilbert A. Blaise completed his training in medicine and anesthesiology in 1976 at the Université de Liège, in Belgium. He worked as an Anaesthesiologist in Europe and in 1978, became director of the Department of Anesthesiolgy of the Centre hospitalier du Nord, in Luxembourg. In 1980, Dr. Blaise was named an Assistant Professor of anaesthesiology at the Université of Sherbrooke in Québec, Canada. He became a certified Anaesthesiologist in Canada and Québec in 1983 and a Member of the Royal Canadian College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 1983, Dr. Blaise was also named an Assistant Professor and Anaesthesiologist at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, in Ontario, Canada. Between 1984 and 1986, Dr. Blaise is at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in the United States. He specializes in intensive care, anaesthesiology, and cardiovascular research (postdoctoral studies). He became a certified member of the ABA (American Board of Anesthesiology) and obtained a special degree in intensive care and pain medicine. Since 1986, Dr. Blaise is an Anaesthesiologist at the Hôpital Notre-Dame of the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). From Assistant Professor he became an Associate Professor and a Full Professor at the Université de Montréal. Dr. Blaise currently works as a Professor of medicine and anaesthesiology at the Université de Montréal as well as an Associate Professor of anaesthesiology at McGill University. He also works at the pain Clinic of the CHUM Hôtel-Dieu. Dr. Blaise has published more than 80 scientific articles and close to 200 abstracts.
