Tadamasa Kimura Emeritus Professor of University of ELectro-Communications(UEC Tokyo), Tokyo, Japan and Programm Officer of Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Tokyo, Japan. Tadamasa Kimura was born in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, in 1943. He received the Electrical Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1966 and 1971, respectively. Since 1971, T. Kimura had been with the Univeristy of Electro-Communications (UEC Tokyo), Tokyo, Japan, until 2009. From 2004 to 2007, he was a vice-rector of UEC Tokyo. Presently, he is an emeritus Professor of UEC Tokyo. Since 2010, he is with Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) as a Programm Officer. He is mainly interested in optoelectronic materials and devices, silicon photonics, CVD diamond growth and failure physics of semiconductor devices. In 2004, he was the first chair of Silicon Photonics Committee of IECE (Institute of Elctronics and Information Engineering) Japan. He is a chair of the 41st Symposium on Reliability and Maintainability, Japan (2011). T. Kimura is a Collaborative Member of Science Council of Japan, and Japan Applied Physics Society Fellow.
