David M. Fisher

Dr. Fisher is board certified in both general and plastic surgery. He is a pediatric plastic surgeon, whose practice focuses in the care of children with cleft lip and palate and microtia. Dr. Fisher is the Medical Director of The Hospital for Sick Children’s multidisciplinary Cleft Lip and Palate Program. Along with other members of the division, he also staffs the Northern Cleft Clinics in Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie, which is organized through the Bloor view MacMillan Children’s Centre. Dr. Fisher is the consultant plastic surgeon for the microtia program at The Hospital for Sick Children. Clinical responsibilities also include general pediatric plastic surgery and burn surgery. Dr. Fisher has a diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. His primary research interest focuses on clinical outcome studies in cleft lip and palate and ear reconstruction. Dr. Fisher is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, American Board of Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons & Operation Smile. He has 15 peer-reviewed publications and is an author of seven book chapters (four published; three written/accepted). He is active in the teaching and training of medical students, residents and fellows.
