Awlad Hossain received the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Bangladesh, in 1997, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T), in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering and Design at Eastern Washington University, Cheney. Prior joining to Eastern, he worked as a Visiting Faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Georgia Southern University. His research interests involve Computational Analysis of Lightweight Materials, Micro- and Nano-Mechanics of Advanced Materials. He has authored over 40 technical publications. Dr. Hossain is a recipient of EWU Faculty Merit Award in Teaching and Service (2011 and 2012), EWU Professor of the Year Award (2012), EWU Dean’s Excellence Award (2013), and EWU Chairs Excellence Award in Research (2010, 2014, and 2015).
