Yunliang Tan holds B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees. Professor Tan works as Academic Leader of Discipline Ranked Level 1, Mining Engineering, Shandong University of Science and Technology (SDUST), China; Director of Institute of Ground Pressure; Vice Director of State Key Laboratory of Mine Disaster Prevention and Control, China; and Vice Head of College of Natural Resources and Environmental Engineering, SDUST. Tan is a Member of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering; an Expert Member of State Administration of Work Safety, China; an Expert of State Administration of Coal Mine Safety, China; and a Member of Pit Mining Experts Committee of China Coal Industry. His research interests include underground rock mechanics, nonlinear dynamics of rock mechanics, jointed rock engineering (including mechanical and coupled hydromechanical behavior), mining pressure and strata control, and disaster prevention of underground engineering. Tan serves as Editorial Board Member and Reviewer for many journals such as Journal of Mining and Safety Engineering (China), ISSN: 1673-3363 (2005–present); International Journal of Rock Mechanics and Mining Sciences, ISSN: 1365-1609; and Acta Mechanica Sinica, ISSN: 0567-7718.
