Denis Buxton

Denis Buxton received his B.S. degree in 1977 and the Ph.D. degree in 1981 from the Department of Biochemistry at University College, London, UK. He then spent five years first as a Postdoctoral Fellow and later as a Junior Faculty Member at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In 1985, he joined the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, Calif, USA, becoming an Associate Professor in 1991. From there he moved to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute in 1996, where he is currently an Associate Director in the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences. His interests include substrate metabolism, signal transduction, cardiac imaging, nanotechnology, and progenitor cell biology. He is Cochair of the National Institutes of Health Nano Task Force and Consulting Editor for Cardiovascular Research. He is also a Member of the International Advisory Board for Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews: Nanomedicine and Nanobiotechnology.
