Keith C. C. Chan

Keith C.C. Chan obtained his B.Math. degree with honors in computer science and statistics and his M.A.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada in 1984, 1985, and 1989, respectively. He joined the IBM Canada Laboratory as a Software Analyst soon after his graduation and was involved in the design and development of software engineering tools, image, and multimedia software products. In 1994, he joined The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Kowloon, Hong Kong, where he is currently a Professor at the Department of Computing and the Dean of Students of the University. He was Head of his Department from 2002 to 2008. Chan’ss research interests are in data mining, bioinformatics, and software engineering. He is the author and co-author of three books and over 200 publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is on the editorial board of five journals and is on the programme committee of numerous conferences. He is currently also a Guest Professor of the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China.
